Anne Pogoda - My Little Brony
20 years ago when I was a little child, my parents got me my first pony.
It was blue with a golden mane and a pink saddle with golden flowers on it... or maybe the other way around, I don't clearly remember.

I loved this pony so much I would play all day with it. Which is funny because I usually was much more into cars and stuff. But that pony... oh my. They got me a lot more from the same collection later (the „before 2010“ collection....) I also got the white „wedding“ pony, in bodytype looking a little like princess celestia. She had beautiful silver glittering hair and all the girls wanted to have her because she was so pretty.

The reason why I am writing that is the funny fact that in my childhood, ,My Little Pony' - toys, TV show, cassette tapes - was only „in“ as long as we were little girls. Between 5 and 10 years old. I got a lot of them and even collected different variants of them later. However, when I was around 20 I gave most of them away, keeping only my favourite ones and my very, very favourite which was a violet pony who carried a bee on its side.

Then, 20 years later from the moment were I got my first pony, it was suddenly cool to be into „My Little Pony“ again, as the internet discovered the new animated series and with it the bronies and a lot of other fandom appeared. Being an 'Old School Fan' those first attempts to make toys matching the new TV show looked very alien to me. But I must say that now, 2 years later, the toys have become much better and so even I can like them.

This whole new hype is so very funny because I got a fullgrown man besides me yesterday, a big dude with a lot of muscles and ALL, going nuts and squeezy about a nice toy of Rainbow Dash that we found while browsing the child corner out of fun.

In fact, this brony was sooooo EXCITED that I decided to buy Rainbow Dash and carry her home just to see him unbox it in JOY. (He would have loved Pinkie Pie much more, but they didn't have her at the store.)

It was really funny to watch how this fullgrown man asked in a squeezy voice of joy if he could have the pony box once we got home from shopping. I gave it to him and he opened it with most care not to damage anything. When he started pulling her out we were all like
,Careful, girls toys are packed different from boy toys! Take care of the head!' XD
Then he had her on the desk in front of him and said ,and now I have to brush her hair!. :3'
I snatched the comb from him 'Don't do it! The curls will get damaged!'
He looked at me like O_O and I said ,Trust me, I got experience with those toys! XD'

Man that so feels like time travel... he got all the little extras from the box and decorated her and I was like OMG... almost like little girls arguing who could play with her first. Hahaha this is so wrong in a way but also so funny on the other. Seeing a man going crazy over those toys for real – and suddenly collecting them is cool again. OK the new show IS cool and exactly what this brand needed, because now you can finally like it again... oh trends can be so funny!

Anne Pogoda - Today We Won't Die Of Art
With this journal I would like to motivate those of you who are afraid to express themselves through art.
You are given a gift that you can use without worry because we live in this very modern world that grants us a lot of freedom. And I become upset when I see people being afraid to use this gift because of others:

There were times at which an artist had to fear for his life should he dare to express something "not fitting the society he lived in". And even now a days we still have countries that threaten artists and journalists lives should they speak up too clearly.

Just because everybody does it, does not mean it is right. That is why artists in modern times for example are around to watch and give critic . (Ai Wei Wei is a very good example)

Yet again the fear, that I just wittnessed today again with a dear friend, which is a fear I very much dislike because it is the fear of being bashed for expressing your thoughts can be very terrifying, too.
Especially when in theory, you are not going to do anything that could specifically be considered „wrong“.

Do we do art just to let others dictate what we can or can't do?
As a pure show of skill, proving it over and over, again and again?
Or is it a way to express our thoughts and feelings?

I always thought art, unless bought, which makes it a craft, was there to serve the artist, as his „window to the world“ to put it in some pretty words. Please pardon me, if I am wrong.

We have a good bunch of wonderful people around here with a big knowlege of art and art history who I think would never put anyone down just for expressing himself. But this is just my thought on it, as I thinkthat everybody should be allowed to epxress his personal art however he wants.

All of you have this phantastic freedom to express anything you want.
A freedom that so many did not have. And that some still don't have.
But you have it, so go and make your art and don't be afraid of being different.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last but not least, let's see this journal the artistic and modern way: If you do not approve with what I express through this writing or consider it utter nonsense, then you are free to walk away, shall you have nothing constructive to say.

Anne Pogoda - The first And Last I See
The first that I see when I wake up is three pictures on my wall.
The pictures show a cowbay, a bat, and a sci fi hero with a big gun.
It is also the last that I see when I go to bed.

They were made by a truly awesome man. It took me almost 2 years to realize that I look at these pictures every day at least twice and am each time happy about them.

I MISS MY OLD FRIEND WHO MADE THESE; DANG IT! T__T

Bleh.

Oh, heh. So much I would LOVE dearly to blog about but meh, it would probably involve a lot of complaining on how hard it is to get certain types of projects funded over here at my country.

And second to that, I am searching my ass off to find some artists who are not scared of writing a little. I got 2 editors to back them up so, come on. Is there nobody around who is not afraid of doing a little writing about his art?

Anyone....? Helloooo...?

THERE IS SOME NEW PAINTING VIDEO UP:
